Stakeholder Group on Colorado’s Emergency Mental Health Procedures
February 22, 2021 @ 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Join Stakeholder Group on Colorado’s Emergency Mental Health Procedures
Please join Mental Health Colorado, in collaboration with the Colorado Department of Human Services, Office of Behavioral Health, to discuss how services are provided to individuals experiencing a mental health emergency and ways to improve emergency mental health procedures in Colorado. The first stakeholder meeting will be on Monday, February 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with recurring stakeholder meetings taking place on the second and fourth Monday of each month.
Article 65 of Title 27, in Colorado Revised Statutes (27-65, C.R.S.) establishes both the legal requirements and patient rights for voluntary and involuntary treatment services for individuals with a mental health disorder. The goals of this stakeholder group include:
- Redefining the Involuntary Transportation Hold (M0.5)
- Exploring which professionals can and should be able to initiate an involuntary mental health hold (M1 or M0.5)
- Addressing professional training requirements
- Addressing inconsistencies in how the 72-Hour Mental Health Holds (M1) procedure is implemented
- Clarifying patient rights at each phase of mental health services
