30TH ANNUAL SALUTE TO THE WEST
March 2, 2019 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
The Colorado Gerontological Society is excited to announce the launch of a searchable website for statewide housing and home care services at the 30th Annual Salute. Individuals spend endless hours searching for services to help loved ones find the “right” placement or services. This service is one-of-a-kind available in Colorado for caregivers and professionals alike. Searches are available on price, vacancies, and location. All licensed facilities in Colorado will be listed regardless of size and ability to purchase advertising or paid arrangements with placement agencies.
As part of The Wild West festivities, the new site will be launched at 10 am at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Salute. Kaiser Permanente will be honored for 30 years of continued participation in The Salute. Mark Koebrich will emcee.
More than 75 other vendors will be among those who are bringing information about housing, home care, health, insurance, and economic security. Information guides, apps, and more than 200 experts will be on hand to help you to find the services you need to stay in the community.
Amid a backdrop of hay bales, coming to the stage at 11 am is Fred G Ellis, The Drifting Cowboy Poet, from Colorado’s own Canon City. Topping off the program at 12:15 pm will be a Glen Campbell Tribute by Jimmy Mazz. Mazz will honor Campbell who died of Alzheimer’s disease in 2017. The day will end with a Country Rock ‘N Roll afternoon of county favorites, also by Jimmy Mazz featuring such notables as Willie Nelson, Elvis Presley and many more favorites of the 1950s and 60s.
Forney Museum of Transportation is bringing restored pick-up trucks from the 1920s through the 1970s. The Black American West Museum and Buffalo Bill Museum will share exhibits from their world renowned collections. The Center will be offering health education and screenings. Back by popular demand is Jesse Felzein and Kelly Wickhorst daunting the crowds as cowboys looking for an opportunity to tame the Wild West.
On March 2, doors open at 9 am and close at 3:30 pm at the Colorado Convention Center. Exhibits close at 2:30 pm.
